Versus XIII Being Developed Specifically for the PS3

Tetsuya Nomura, director of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, said in a tweet earlier today that the game is being specifically developed for Playstation 3 and nothing else. This is likely due to rumblings that have begun due to the recent announcement of Final Fantasy XIII's Xbox 360 versions hitting Japanese shores after all, albeit heavily delayed.

“Multi-platform is when you start development on a game with the assumption of optimizing for multiple platforms,” he said.

He then went on to say that “Porting is something that’s done after you’ve developed a game specifically for a particular platforms. The debate over porting is decided by the management based off the current market and the costs. All I can say right now as a developer is that Versus is being developed specifically for the PlayStation 3.”

The game will see a small showing at this year's Tokyo Game Show.

So there may be a port, but it seems that Nomura probably won't have much to do with it. Good to see he's aiming to get the most out of the PS3 without having to worry about the 360's limitations. I guess those limitations will be for the porting team to deal with. That is if there is even going to be a port.

I guess the game won't be as big as they promised if this is true.
Or the game should be on more then 6 Double Layer DVD's (extremely compressed) to get anywhere near the half of what S.E. promised.
I'm wondering how much they are going to delete this time ...
We've also lost the DLC thanks to someone ...
But it wasn't the 360 that hurted the game ... :rolleyes:

@GaGe people with only a 360. SE needs to finish the game then put it on 360. If the 360 fans have to wait thats their problem

S-E's management will definitely make this game multi-platform unless Nomura has enough leverage to sway decisions. It is apparent now that Kitase really did not have any. I'm not sure if Nomura is any better in this regard.

I agree. That pretty much confirms Versus will be in Xbox, though probably slightly behind PS3.

As long as it comes to X360 is all I want. Dont care if PS3 is the development platform. I have both systems but I want this on X360.
