Many of you may remember rumblings of upcoming Final Fantasy XIII DLC occuring in the past. It turns out, DLC was actually planned for the title. It isn't anymore.

Motomu Toriyama, director of Final Fantasy XIII, told Famitsu that while DLC was originally planned, it got scrapped. When asked about a comment he made before the game's Japanese launch last year, he responded “We were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening,”

Regarding the confirmation of Final Fantasy XIII for 360 in Japan, his response as to why they're releasing it now, a whole year after the PS3 release was “We feel that there are a lot of 360 owners worldwide, and a lot of people in Japan who own nothing but 360s,”

“Thanks to the new [Slim] system and such, the situation’s a lot different than it was in July 2008,”

July 2008 was when Square boss Yoichi Wada announced that the 360-version of Final Fantasy XIII would be just for America and Europe.
