CoD: Black Ops' "Wager Matches" Make You a Betting Man

Last night, Activision pulled back the curtain on some of the new multiplayer features it will be introducing in its premiere shooting franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops. There are more ways to customize your character, offline bot multiplayer, and a theater mode a la Halo 3, but the most interesting thing (to me anyway), are the new "Wager Matches" being introduced to matchmaking.

The four game types that will launch with the game are:

* One in the Chamber -- One gun, one bullet, and a knife. Every kill garners you more bullets to use on your enemies.
* Sharpshooter - Guns are randomized every round, making the focus on getting the perfect kill, every time.
* Sticks and Stones - Ballistic knives, crossbow, and tomahawk. That last one loses all wagered CP, or money.
* Gun Game - Work your way up from a lowly pistol as you kill more and more foes. Every kill gets you a better weapon, but every death lowers you to a lesser gun.

The coolest aspect of the new modes is that to play them, you'll need to wager Call of Duty Points (CP), the in-game currency, which you use to upgrade and customize your character online.

What, if any, of the Wager Matches are you guys looking most forward to checking out when CoD: Black Ops drops November 9?

Sounds sweet now, but please tell me they won't let you buy points.

One in the Chamber sounds hella cool

If they're going to rip off the CSS mod for gun game they should at least get the order right. You start with the best weapons and progressively go lower. This ensures that the good players never distance themselves too far from the less practiced players. It also allows people who join late to catch up quicker.

They sound really fun in theory, I hope the community doesn't find something to abuse. All I want to know is if they found a way to make the game less campy.

Sounds good... Mostly.

CP? Ouch. Sounds like Call of Duty is one step closer to making even more money.

Omg! I can wait, Cod:MW felt like a beta with lots of flaws, bugs and glitches, Black Ops will be an improved version over MW in all aspect and a better package overall.

I Currently still play COD4 and COD:World of War and nothing else..

I have to be in a rehab for COD. addicts. lol

Xbox 360 Top LIVE Titles for the month of AUG.

1) Cod: Modern Warfare
2) Halo 3
3) Cod: World at War
4) Cod: 4 Modern Warfare

Some gamers might hate on Activision but you can't deny they hold the top four places out of 20 selected for most played games on Live..

Treyarch, you proved that you can hang with the big boys with World at War and it wasn't just a fluke and this time is to prove that you an be the #1 devs of the COD series when you put out a fixed version of Modern Warfare with added gameplay modes, extras weapons, customizations and new contents, Black Ops will be the best of yet

Pulling for ya Treyarch, this is the time to shine.
