When speaking with MTV Multiplayer, Blizzard's EVP of game design Rob Pardo said that he was all for making a StarCraft movie, but only if the "right partners" join the project.

“We’ve always had an interest in seeing our stuff on film or TV. It’s just tricky to find the right partners. We probably could have made a ['StarCraft'] movie or something on TV years and years ago, but it’s really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties. That’s always been the challenge for us. I think if [James] Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, ‘You want to make a ‘StarCraft’ movie?’ we’d probably sign that,” he explained.

Regarding the upcoming World of Warcraft movie, he said it is being made simply because such an opportunity actually did present itself.

“That’s why we did the ‘WoW’ movie. We were really excited about being involved with Legendary Pictures, who we thought had a really good track record with these sorts of movies that would make sense for our franchises,” he said, and also went on to note that the movie is still in the "story-development" phase.

Well seeing as James Cameron made Aliens the sequal to Alien, and Avatar, both extremly sueccessful scifi movies and one being about a Zerg like race. It's safe to assume he would produce on the level of quality that Blizzard demands. Not to mention Blizzard would easily throw +200 millon alone to see this perfectly done. I think it would be a recipy for greatness.

If he can do to Starcraft what he did with Avatar, then yes, let him do it. Heck, Avatar had starcraft elements already. Imagine the humans being Terran with units and robotics very similar to Terrans stuff in the game. Avatar creatures can be Zerg, a very poor comparison...But he knows this kind of Sci-fi stuff from Avatar and he could use a lot of that knoweldge in the Starcraft movie.

Let Cameron to the big picture creative visualising stuff, but don't let him anywhere near the script writing or the director's chair.
