Live, Die, Restart: Life in 8-Bit

Consoul is the latest video project from Lasse Gjertsen (remember a few years ago when he made this?).  It chronicles the different directions a man's life can take based on the decisions he makes: the ups and the downs, the money and the happiness, the death and the restart button.  Oh, and it looks exactly like an 8-bit video game.

It took half a year to make (with Photoshop!), and the final product, chock full of video game references, is rather special.  It does clock in at about 12 minutes (that's like eight hours in internet time, and is only now possible on YouTube after they recently increased the video time limit to 15 minutes, up from the previous 10-minute limit), but the payoff is worth it.  It really picks up in the second half, especially.  Lasse finished this project in January 2009 and has been screening it at film festivals around the world, but it just hit the internet.  Enjoy.

Aahghag, I forgot to keep my eyes peeled for all the hidden references! I'll have to watch it a few more times. LOVED IT though.

I loved the music too, and all the parts that synced up with it, like the little handclaps at the end of the night. Sooo good.
