Capcom has just unleashed the first batch of screenshots from their upcoming 3DS version of Super Street Fighter IV, as well as a few screens from their upcoming original 3DS title, Resident Evil: Revelations.  The Resident Evil screens are taken from the teaser trailer, but these Super Street Fighter IV shots are the first look at the new 3DS version.

How do these Street Fighter pics compare to the HD versions?  Can the 3DS really pull off magical portable 3D versions of games that the Wii can't handle?  The thing is a beast.  Have a gander at Capcom's first 3DS efforts, sans the 3D effects of course.

The rest are available in the gallery below.

it looks alright, but as a multi-console owner, I would like to see some more ORGINAL content on the 3ds, all we have now another SF4, RE, same Zelda I played 4 times already, and another KH game, with that being said, Im glad this thing is getting more than just overpriced and glorified flash games. Ninty must have been tired of being called "casual"

Remember when the 3d is off the games look like they have jaggies but when the 3d is on it actually looks amazing.

looks cool

the people under me are funny. now there is a handheld wars? give me a break....

I would like to see some gameplay first, before everyone jumps the usual bullshot bandwagon. If 3DS can pull of these kind of visuals than it's really impressive. But the tech analysis of the new gfx chip aren't pointing out to visuals above any of this current gen home consoles (Wii).

The backgrounds are flat and terrible. The characters look really jaggy too. Have to wait and see what SSFIV looks like in motion, it may not be as bad then.

I probably won't buy SSFIV on 3DS, I don't really use handhelds outside the house and I have it on PS3.

how in god sake can people compare this new gen handheld against an old gen psp handheld.... just wait and see what sony comes up with

weezy (on 23 June 2010)

wow that was weird.

It only displayed half of my comment below.

Well basically what I said was 3DS is between Wii and 360/ps3 in terms of graphics

And I hope the sony fanatics don't deprive themselves of a good time missing out on a great handheld that can/will outsell the greatest system of all time(DS)

psp is like two playstation 1's duct taped together.

<

The Nintendo 3DS "graphic power" is in between Wii and 360/ps3.

I don't know why anyone would clown the 3DS when it is very likely it will become the best selling hand held in the history of gaming, beating out the current champ the DS..

Just because you are a sony fanatic I hope you do not deprive yourself on a gamer good time and miss out on the amazing 3DS!!

Agreed with Rubang, This is ONLY the beginning. Test cases to prove its doable.

Style is different from power. Developers don't want to use the TEV because it's a different style to use it. We will see more 3DS games use the various post and pre gpu effects than the TEV. Yes we know there are a lot of subtle techniques to make games look good on lesser power.

yeah in game movie engine :P

What's annoying is Capcom saying the Wii doesn't have the power when the 3DS whith vastly less power get's the game. Just admit it Capcom you don't to make SF4 for the Wii because you don't feel there is a market.

I love portable SF :) I guess I will be playing SF4 on the 3DS before anywhere else. Sorta sad if you think about it.

I played Super Street Fighter IV on the PS3 and those screenshots look similar to the ones in the PS3 game.

Resident Evil has been confirmed to use the game's engine for the 100th time.

@kingofwale

Drop the shtick dude. You were already linked to a ton of evidence proving the 3DS is way more powerful than the PSP in the thread about the GPU, and this looks significantly better than anything on the DS (and somewhat better than any fighter on the PSP). It's showing things like self-shadowing which have never been seen on the PSP. I don't know why you're obsessed with bashing the graphics on this system which are clearly superior to anything else on the market, but I've updated the two screens in the topic to their original resolution so you can see the actual graphics better.

d21lewis (on 22 June 2010)

No doubt that the character in the background of those SSF4 shots are 2D like you'd find in a WWE game for the PS1. Still looks good for a portable, though.

almcchesney (on 22 June 2010)

i really hope the pixelation is from increasing the size o the image, i was really, really excited about the 3ds till i saw the SF4 pics......

mmnin (on 22 June 2010)

If you look between the jaggies, you can tell there is some pretty cool looking detail that we would expect to see from a polished game. I think the jaggies are just a result of the 3D effect being turned up and that is how it translated to the photo. If you notice that the jaggies only occur on anything that would be at certain depth levels from the background.

The Ghost of RubangB (on 22 June 2010)

The graphics are a lot cleaner on a 3DS. The screen is actually smaller than the screenshots in this article, so they don't have the jaggies, and the background and characters are more smoothly separated due to the 3D effect.

But yeah, we gotta wait for some actual gameplay footage of the RE: Revelations game. All the devs are just showing off that they can get any game engine ever to work on a 3DS.

kingofwale (on 22 June 2010)

oh man, the 3DS SSF4 looks more like the current DS than PSP. not a good sign for Capcom

as for RE, i'm having major Killzone 2 flashback, so I will say what I said after watching Killzone 2 E3 video... "SHOW ME THE DEMO"

ZaP~ (on 22 June 2010)

@curl-6
The 3DS screen is smaller than the size of the pics of SSF4 3D, so the pixelation might be due that.
But in movement it should see a lot better

curl-6 (on 22 June 2010)

A lot of pixelation going on in Street Fighter, but seriosuly, that RE stuff HAS to be CGI, it looks like PS360 graphics! 0_0
