Nintendo Reveals First Party Lineup For 2010

This official chart from Nintendo showcases the companies' release plans for this year in all three regions on both platforms. Japan dominates and is the luckiest, as usual. The most notable omission for Europe is Monado: Beginning of The World, which is bound to bring frustration to European RPG fans... if you want it this year, you'll have to import the game and a North American Wii.

Also, all of you who hope to see the new Legend of Zelda on the Wii in the west this year.. keep hoping. Nintendo only sees it out in Japan for now.

Thanks, Destructoid.

no Zelda Wii on US?

and another new pokemon games for DS rhis year :)

NightDragon83 (on 30 January 2010)

Honestly, what's with Nintendo never announcing a game's actual release date until like a month before it comes out?!? What, they gotta keep Sony and Microsoft on their toes about the impending releases of games that EVERYONE is expecting like Metroid: Other M and Galaxy 2?!? Puh-LEAZE!!!

Sony and Microsoft always give us concrete dates for major games months in advance in order to build up hype and anticipation, but Nintendo thinks they're being cute when they tell us "yeah, Metroid, Galaxy 2, and Zelda are all in the pipeline, but we don't want to tip our hand to the competition just yet." Yeah right, because nobody anticipates that Metroid will be released in July/August, Galaxy 2 in November, and Zelda following in December... that is, if they don't decide to push it back to next year like they did with Brawl in order to stretch their thin release library out.

Sony and Microsoft have consistently gotten like half a dozen or more AAA games each within the span of 3 months during the holiday season almost every year, and the only year Nintendo has had a decent lineup for the holidays far was in 2007-08 with Prime 3, Galaxy and Brawl kicking off the new year.

Spedfrom (on 30 January 2010)

After all these years, Japan still gets the most games and Europe the fewer, with no true end in sight to non-worldwide releases. Tiresome, old and ridiculous.

deus837 (on 30 January 2010)

At least we get some games they don't :(

elprincipe (on 29 January 2010)

Regenleiv for USA please!!! Come on Nintendo!

Xen (on 29 January 2010)

How is Xeno monolith's if Xenogears is by Square?

BlkPaladin (on 29 January 2010)

The Xeno series was Monolith's to begin with. The name change probably has something to do Namco owning the rights to the name because they where the publisher of the last few titles. The US has a slightly stricter policy on "copyrighted" names.

Imphamis (on 29 January 2010)

Getting more exicited for the Kirby Wii title.

Metallicube (on 29 January 2010)

Dammit Nintendo, I'd better get Reginleiv in the US, or there is going to be some bootlegging.

cacafina (on 29 January 2010)

Why is Xenoblade listed as xenoblade on japan and as monado on USA?? is it going to be named in diferent ways on both regions?

luiaots (on 29 January 2010)

aw.... :( I was getting excited. oh well.

famousringo (on 29 January 2010)

Kirby shows up on this list every year. Don't get too excited about it.

luiaots (on 29 January 2010)

is that a kirby game for the wii hitting japan this year?

mike_intellivision (on 29 January 2010)

Why do I feel like this list is not a full list -- especially since there are no firm release dates after this quarter.

GDC announcements anyone?
E3 announcements anyone?
Pax East announcements anyone?

Mike from Morgantown

thanny (on 29 January 2010)

Wow. by the end of this year i will have bought one nintendo made wii game in two years.

kitler53 (on 29 January 2010)

metroid, mario galaxy, and sin & punishment. so there will be 3 games worth buying on the wii this year. :/

ECC (on 29 January 2010)

So much WIN!

XanderZane (on 29 January 2010)

Sin & Punishment, Metroid for the Wii
Golden Sun & Glory of Heracles for the DS.
A decent start, but we need a lot more then that.

Still waiting for Mario Golf (Wii) and a Kid Icarus game. Where are all the Kirby and Yoshi games? Nintendo is slacking this generation. I would have loved to see another Luigi game like they did with Luigi's Haunted Mansion.

Where's ZELDA game?

Kenryoku_Maxis (on 29 January 2010)

I'll be darned. How the heck did Monolith steal the Xeno brand from Namco...

I guess if they could take it from Square, they could take it from Namco. Its the series that'll never die!

Nice to see them finally confirming the Wii Kirby game.

c03n3nj0 (on 29 January 2010)

Bah, damn you Japan!

Raze (on 29 January 2010)

Nintendo will struggle to "win" 2010 without Zelda hitting the US & Others for Christmas. Metroid games, while good, do not sell or move systems to the degree Zelda games do. They would be wise to release Zelda in the West first, and then track back to Japan. Japan can be complacent with SMG2 for the holidays instead.

thetonestarr (on 29 January 2010)

And even more, the Japanese list even only lists it as "TBA", not even "TBA 2010". That does nothing to support that it's hitting Japan this year, but coming to the West next year.

More, Nintendo would be fools to hold an epic title like that until the spring, and I know for a fact that they know that. They won't delay it that long behind the Japanese release. This is guaranteed.

thetonestarr (on 29 January 2010)

No, if you ask Nintendo, they just haven't decided to officially state that it is. Not stating =/= saying it's not. There's a big difference here.

woopah (on 29 January 2010)

i hardly ever use these things to know when the games are released

naznatips (on 29 January 2010)

I find that unlikely. Zelda always releases nearly simultaneously if not simultaneously these days. It's either coming out in both this year or neither (personally I suspect the latter). These are more likely temporary release lists.

DOLBYdigital (on 29 January 2010)

Personally I would rather Other M in 2010 than Zelda so I am happy that all territories are getting Other M this year. S&P2 can't come soon enough, been dying for that one and almost imported it like 10 times now but keep distracting myself with all the other great games out. Gah.... great time to be a gamer!

Xen (on 29 January 2010)

It isn't if you ask Nintendo.

JaggedSac (on 29 January 2010)

Is Zelda not hitting the Americas this year?

Kemsus (on 29 January 2010)

the only reason the EU is so slow to get games is because of Germany/France/Spain/Italy and the need for localized games for these countries, at least that is what i think.

Son1x (on 29 January 2010)

Why am I not surprised that European lineup is the smallest?
Oh yea, because its always like that. How silly of me...
