Playstationarc.com Registered in Sony's Name
A http://www.betterwhois.com/ search for the owners of "playstationarc.com" shows that it is owned by Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. "Arc" has been rumored to be the name of their upcoming motion controller for a while, and now Sony has registered a domain name using it.

Also, the web site http://www.ps3arc.com/ has surfaced. Although it appears to not be owned by Sony. So far it only consists of a single image:

This claims it will be coming this Fall with the "Kownage Expansion Pack." If that part is real, I assume that would be the kit that comes with Arc and the PlayStation Eye, and possibly a game.
I wonder if Microsoft is going to change "Code Name" Natal's name a hundred times to keep up with all these rumors and press.

I just discovered the Arc features rumble. Sony will cut deep on Nintendo's female userbase with this.
Sergiodaly, No they took it from the french meaning, which is the beginning of something or to be born.
Aggressively Randy Coconuts!
And for anyone who saw that thing about "PlayStation CLOUD"
Coconut Lovers Obtain Ugly Dentist
ARC probably stands for something. Augmented Reality Control? Angry Russian Commissar? Who knows?
if you think the name is bad then I wonder what you'd think if the joystick had come today. joy.. stick.. classic
look like a dildo... I like dildo ! A must buy for me and my girlfriend !!!!
Then they sould have called it AMC(advanced motion controller). Actually sounds cooler as well :P.
I heard a couple of days ago that arc stands for advanced remote controller.
lol sony probably released the info about calling it gem so that they could call it arc and have people go "well.. It's not as bad as gem."
It's not a bad name at all anyways. Wouldn't call it great either though.
@andysw its arc cuz when a big disaster comes ull be on the arc surviving the disaster!! lol (although u have to have a ps3 to be succesful!)
I wanna the version with the blue bulb ! This slogan sucks,it must be a joke ...
@Icyedge
Natal isn't french, is Portuguese, its means Christmas. Natal also could be a word in french, but from what i know they chose it after a brazilian city, and in brazil, as everyone knows, they speak Portuguese.
i just thought of a better one already "a revolution in control" do you get it, naa that's bad trying to copy of wii too much me thinks lol.
of course it is fake, i don't even think Sony would really think of that horrible saying "arc you ready?"
Sorry about that, should have put this link saying its fan-made with it:
http://www.t3.com/news/ps3-motion-controller-first-pictures?=42871
ps3arc.com is fake. They're using an unofficial picture of the motion controller: http://www.t3.com/news-gallery?articleId=12871&id=2 (only in blue).
I like the name "arc". It also can symbolize the arc between 1 thing and another. LIke the game world into the real world (through motion).
Gem sounded like garbage.
Playstation Arc, could be a noun or an adjective/verb?...... one of those.
If they launch this with 3D glasses that can work in varying scales depending on tv type, then it will be golden. 3D plus motion on any tv would sell.
It will Arc into the future!
Considering everyone was complaining about the name Wii a few years back (hell there still is something in the back of my head telling me wtf when i hear the name) I don't really think arc is a bad choice of name.
The wand just sounds....kinda gayish
The Gem sounds too girly.
The Arc sounds alright. Not hard to say, doesn't make me think of anything funny, sounds like a hand movement. Not that bad of a name to be honest.
Should be named the wand, so I can tell people Im playing with my wand!
An 'arc' can also mean a gesture that's made by moving your arm...
"Arc" isn't gay enough! My goodness, YUCK!
Sony could you please spend your money to hire a genius who is in his right mind to name your magic wand. Right Jack Black?
ps3arc.com doesn't look like an official SCE site. Besides the dated font, and really dubious slogans, "Kownage Expansion Pack" naming, etc. it's missing the © 2010 Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. All Rights Reserved. that would be on any official SCEA site. Looks like an overenthusiastic fan site.
jbrist, Arc means Bow in french, it comes from latin Arcus. If its real they prolly choose this name because of the bow demonstration at E3 success. They prolly thought it would be more original then Bow. It seems Microsoft and Sony think alike when it comes to choose a name. Natal is also french from latin Natus.
what Spedfrom said...why would they use the Spiderman 3 font? why would they make that screen so shitty? PS3ARC.COM??????? REALLY?!?
Us.Playstation/Arc would be the official site! not this shit.
You arc insane if you believe that is official.
Anyway, I'd rather have Gem or Wand as the name for the motion controller. Arc doesn't sound so smooth when you say it.
-Spiderman font.
-Low res, blurry pic.
-WHOIS shows it's not registered under Sony.
I call fake.
ps3arc.com is obviously fake, not sure why this is reported as news.
playstationarc.com on the other hand could be real, but it is not ready yet.
This site is clearly not going to be from Sony since they have ditched the spiderman font on the console itself and also on the game cases so why would they then use it for advertising Arc? Wouldn't make much sense lol
Arc you ready XD
God help them if this is any indication of their marketing strategy.
"Arc you kidding me" is right.
To be honest, I think the PS Wand (Playstation Wand) sounds like the better name out of everything I've heard, Gem sounds too girly for my liking, and Arc, that just doesn't mean anything to me, how does Arc represent a motion control? o.O
At least they haven't nintendoed the name... But, man, how "Arc" sucks...
