Now that Game of the Year awards for 2009 are behind us it is time to look towards a new year of gaming. Here are 35 games from the Playstation 3 lineup for 2010 that we are keeping our eye on. Remember, obviously there are other games releasing in 2010, these are just 35 that we find interesting for one reason or another. Also we have kept ourselves to only games releasing in February or after and decently likely to release in 2010 so don't expect MAG or Final Fantasy Vs. XIII to show up on any lists.
3D Dot Game Heroes

Sure it seems to have ripped off every idea it could from Zelda and other older games from the 2D era when it comes to gameplay, but maybe that's a good thing. A crazy story is added to put a background to the unique visuals and you can upgrade your sword’s size to the point that it takes up the entire screen. I wish Atlus all the luck in the world (they’ll likely need it) when this releases on May 11th.
Ar Tonelico 3
Who can say no to a game that is all about powering up your female magic users by removing their clothing? Sure, it isn’t the most mature series out there, but it’s funny, interesting and (based on Ar Tonelico 2) it will have a really fun battle system. Ar Tonelico 3 releases in Japan on January 28th and I have high hopes that it will make it over to the states sometime in 2010.
Assassin's Creed II Episodes

Another Assassin's Creed game only a year after Assassin's Creed II? Sounds crazy, but take a look at the sales this series has generated and you can hardly blame them if they do release it this year. It may not be Assassin's Creed III, but with multiplayer already confirmed to be heading in its direction there could be some other pretty big changes on the way nonetheless.
Atelier Rorona

More JRPGs are always welcome as far as I'm concerned and I have been watching Atelier Rorona since its release in Japan. Fans of crafting and slightly filthy humor should keep their eye out for this game when it releases in the US in the third quarter of 2010.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2

The battlefield series is thought by many to be not just the Call of Duty series’ competitor, but its superior. DICE themselves certainly haven't shyed away from the fight, announcing dedicated server support and party chat in clear response to controversial decisions on Infinity Ward’s part with Modern Warfare 2. Well, we don’t have much longer to wait to find out which one we all prefer, it’s currently set for release in March.
Bioshock 2

The original BioShock is definitely a fan favourite, and one of the highest rated games of all time to boot. It remains to be seen whether the sequel’s campaign can capture the hearts of fans in quite the same way as the original, but we’re certainly looking forward to finding out, assuming we can tear ourselves away from the all-new multiplayer aspect.
Blur

The racing genre has always had its simulation racing games and the often more combat driven arcade racers, and never the twain shall meet, but Blur hopes to change that. Once Blur releases in Q1 2010 we'll finally get to blow up all the cars we could never afford, or at least just the ones that get in our way.
Brink

A teaser trailer revealing an unusual eye. Nope, it’s not the pre-marketing hype for the next series of Big Brother, it’s Brink. The narrative certainly sounds interesting – a utopian, floating city surrounded by the waters of a flooded earth which is on the ‘brink’ of civil war - and the art style, combat and free-running systems all hint at a unique blending of various recent Xbox 360 releases. This is certainly one to watch.
Dante's Inferno

Sure, some say Dante’s Inferno is just an attempt at copying the God of War series' gameplay, but who could be mad about more of a good thing? Once Dante’s Inferno releases February 9th we'll all get to see if the student can surpass the master.
Dead Rising 2

It's time for another round of zombie massacring with crazy weapons, such as the already revealed motorcyle with two chainsaws tied to it. We'll have to wait until some time in the 2nd quarter of 2010 before we can take the reigns of Chuck Greenie and paint Las Vegas red with zombie blood.
Dead Space 2

Isaac’s back, having somehow escaped the cliffhanger ending. Set on a space station 3 years after the first game, the concept sounds promising, and we’re hoping for all-round improvement on a solid first effort. Oh, and expect a multiplayer mode this time around, those things seem obligatory nowadays.
Fallout: New Vegas

Not much is known about New Vegas, other than that whilst it’s not a direct sequel to Fallout 3 it will offer a similar gameplay experience within the same universe (probably set in Las Vegas... ehhuh). But hey, it’s a Fallout game, you can’t not have this on an anticipated games list.
Final Fantasy XIII

Seems like only yesterday this game was revealed. Alright that’s not quite true - it feels like an age ago, and seeing every new video out of Japan only makes it feel longer. Finally all the Final Fantasy fans will get to play the latest game in the series on March 9th.
God of War 3

Some of you may be thinking “hey, didn’t I see this last year?”. Well, yes, and you're going to have to get used to that for a couple of these due to delays. God of War 3 is still the cap off to one of the most beloved action series in gaming and the demo has gotten the fans in a frenzy. I cannot wait to see what crazy violent things Kratos does next when the game comes out in March.
Gran Turismo 5

Finally it's time for Gran Turismo fans to upgrade from Prologue to the real deal. This is one of the most hotly anticipated games on the system and even non-fans cannot wait to see what the game does from a sales perspective. We will all finally have our curiosity abated later in the year.
Heavy Rain
New and inventive ideas are what keep me loving this industry, and Heavy Rain is a prime example of one. This narrative focused game even lets you kill off a main character and keep the story going, which should allow for a lot of replayability. One can only wonder what CGI-Quality will do with all his time once this game releases February 23rd.

Rico Rodriquez is back and better than ever. A focus on free roaming and playing around with his super powered grappling hook has us interested in this game releasing on March 23rd.
Last Rebellion

An interesting art style and gameplay that focuses on switching between two characters to succeed has kept me interested in this title even without a pedigree to back it up. I guess we will see if it’s a surprise hit or a disappointment when it releases in February.
Lost Planet 2

Causing a fair amount of hype when first teased to the public, Lost Planet 2 will mark the return of many of the original’s features which allowed it to become such a successful new IP, including huge boss battles and player-controlled mech units. As well as a returning online mode, Lost Planet 2 will also feature co-op support for up to 4 players.
Mafia 2

It's time to go back to the dark underbelly of the mob, with Mafia 2. Who wouldn’t want to play a Grand Theft Auto style game set within such an iconic atmosphere? We’ll see exactly how many do when the game releases May 3.
Max Payne 3

Not a lot is known so far about Max Payne 3, except that Max Payne has gotten markedly older. Still, it's hard not to be excited for the third game in such a great series, so we'll just have to see what happens when the game releases sometime in late 2010.
Medal of Honor

It's been a while since Medal of Honor was the premier FPS game, but now the series looks set for a major overhaul as the franchise reboots later this year with Medal of Honor. Set in modern-day Afghanistan and with an emphasis on realism, this could very well be the game to turn this flagging franchise around.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising

Metal Gear Solid has again switched focus from Solid Snake to Raiden with this latest iteration, which is heading to both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Hopefully people are a little less annoyed by the switch this time around, since at least now he's a cyborg ninja and it will be interesting to see how the classic Metal Gear Solid gameplay is adapted for this new focus.
Modnation Racers

I purchased a Wii solely for Mario Kart, so I'm always down for another kart racing game. Add in a Little Big Planet-like focus on community and level editing and you have one of my most anticipated games of 2010. I hope to see you all on the tracks (through my rear view mirror) when the game releases sometime in the first half of 2010.
Naughty Bear

‘All of the teddy bears on the Island of Perfection live happily together, playing games, going on picnics and generally having a jolly good time. All the bears that is... apart from Naughty Bear. The other bears make fun of Naughty Bear because of his grumpy moods and tatty fur. Now players must help Naughty Bear get his fluff-thirsty revenge on the other bears.’ And you thought LittleBigPlanet was endearing...
Rage

Rage is a post-apocalyptic FPS with a twist, the twist being that it’s also a racing game with influences including the Burnout and MotorStorm franchises. It sounds risky, but it’s definitely one for the list.
Rockstar’s free-roaming western is set to launch in April with open world gameplay akin to the GTA series set within huge environments ranging from frontier towns to mountain passes. Get set for an epic adventure.
Resonance of Fate

Tri-Ace is well known among RPG developers for making games with superb and unique gameplay, and Resonance of Fate looks set to keep the trend alive. An emphasis on gunplay over the more melee driven norms of JRPGs, as well as a mix of strategic cover, has us curious to play this game and try it out for ourselves when it releases in March.
Singularity

Singularity takes place in 2010 (oh, snap!) and revolves around a TMD (Time Manipulation Device) discovered by the player on a mysterious island which constantly shifts between the 1950s and 2010. The TMD has multiple uses, including of course as a weapon, but it also has the ability to move objects through time, so there’s certainly potential for some cool puzzle solving as well as sci-fi inspired first person shooting.
skate 3

Now that Tony Hawk: Ride has come and gone it's time for Skate to cement itself as the premier skateboarding franchise. Skate 3 promises to add new online connectivity to the single player and give the game more of a community feel. Hopefully EA can prove that they've continued to improve upon this excellent skateboarding series.
Split/Second

The idea of blowing up the scenery in a racing game in order to slow down your rivals seems interesting, and the beautiful gameplay footage we've seen so far has helped pique interest. Hopefully the full game delivers when it releases in May 2010.
The Last Guardian

It should come as no surprise to anyone that the winner of Most Anticipated game in our Game of the Year awards for 2009 would make an appearance on this list, even though some are probably not optimistic about its chances of making it out in 2010. Team Ico have made two beautiful, artistically minded games, and Last Guardian appears to keep their streak going. It may be almost certain that either the kid or the beast is going to die at the end, but it will be a great experience regardless.
This is Vegas

Vegas revolves around four key activities - fighting, racing, gambling, and partying. By fortunate coincidence This Is Vegas also revolves around these four activities, so you won’t even need to leave your home to experience the real thing anymore.
White Knight Chronicles: International Edition

When you buy White Knight Chronicles, not only do you get a full single player RPG experience, but you also get access to online quests to complete with friends, and an area you can build to your fancy. Sony finally lets this game release in America on February 2nd and we’ll finally see if it was worth the wait.
Yakuza 3

Most thought that Yakuza 3 would never make it to American shores without importing, but come March those naysayers are going to have to eat their words. If you have ever wanted to live the life of a Japanese gangster, with all of the Karaoke and Pachinko that comes along with it, then look no further.
And there you have it, 35 games you should keep your eye on in 2010. I realize that some of these might not make it out in 2010, but I tried to only include games that had a good chance of releasing this year and not something without a chance. Good luck affording all this gaming goodness.

can't wait for god of war 3! =D
and this ''rage'' sounds interesting^^
great list, although many games look very similar
God of War 3, FF XIII, GT5 buy for sure
maybe Bioshock 2
White Knight Chronicles, Last Guardian and those naughty bears look interesting
3D Dot game heroes is the only must buy for me on this list. Red Dead Redemption, The Last Guardian, & Modnation Racers have my interest though.
Great List, but you forgot about Castlevania Lords of Shadow. It is a highly anticipated game too :)
Hahaha oh wow. I read a comment at the bottom of the 360 list where some kid moans that the 360 list has too many multiplatform titles and the PS3 one is full of exclusives, so I come over here and... see a bunch of the games that were on the 360 list. Fantastic.
Looking forward to LG though.
Once again PS3 will have the BEST lineup in the Market (by far).
Thank you Sony.
Two years ago i was wondering if i made the best decision about the purchased of my ps3, today i have no doubt about my decision.
wow, that list is awesome...LAST GUARDIAN, MG RISING, GOW 3, HEAVY RAIN and WHITE KNIGHT CRON. are at the top of my list.....
OK this actually sounds pretty reasoinable to me dude.

Wonderful Article Tori!
I really enjoyed reading it, my fave intros were Rising, Yakuza 3, White Knight Chronicles, ACIII, BS2. :P
This isn't a comprehensive list, nor is it a 'top 35', these are just some of the games to keep your eye on in 2010 (we had to stop somewhere because the draft list was absolutely massive, so we settled on 35). I swear some of you are driven by a compulsion to complain about everything.
LOL!! The Xbox360, what's that? PS3 is going to dismantle the 360 like the Colts did to the ravens last night!
@ slimebeast
How do you "know" The Last Guardian won't make it out in 2010? More like, you THINK it won't make it out in 2010, in which case I partially agree.
@Munkeh
Me neither believes that MGS Rising will make it out in 2010. Nor will The Agent though.
But other than that the list has all the big games included. But he clearly must have forgotten Call of Duty 7.
Some of my most anticipated games are:
Shadow of Colossus HD PS3
Super Robot Taisen PS3
SD Gundam Generation PS3
Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition PS3
Sonic the Hedgehog 2D PS3
Armored Core 5 PS3
Japan Japan Japan
Ah yes the PS3 Fortress is taking of slowly but surely!
It's all part of the plan.
The Return of the Jedi!
It's just a matter of time.
Guys lets not get too exited shall we....
remember, PS3 haz no games.(LOL)
JIPPIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Ps3 is the beast =) Buy this console guys...we have sooo fun
There will be a reason that the apparent AC III might be labelled AC 2.5, because it is not AC 3!!!!! They have said explicitly that it is not AC 3
These lists aren't that useful because about half the game there are just guesses, and we are ignoring games like FIFA 11, PES 2011, Need for Speed Criterion (announced for this year) and many more, and FIFA 11 is going to be one of the biggest games on PS3 next year, FIFA 10 was the second biggest game on PS3 last year, behind CoD which is not mentioned either
What indicates that Agent won't come out this year, but MGS Rising will?
Assassin's Creed 3 in 2010? Hardly.
I know The Last guardian wont make it out in 2010 either, sadly.
Nevertheless, it's truly an amazing gaming year on HD consoles in 2010.
Damn with all those game. I wonder how my wallet can withstand those.
Star Ocean4, Super Street Fighter 4, Prince of Persia, PES 2011, FIFA 2011, Call of Duty NEXT, Guitar Hera NEXT, ROCK Band NEXT,,,,, and others are also launching
and please remove Assassins creed 3, Ubi wont release it with Prince
Star Ocean(Ps3 Version is better) coming too =)
And FF13 Versus XD
nice articel, very good.
DC Universe and Freerealms, dont under estimate the power of MMORPG, just look at WOW
so youre telling me MAG 256 player online that can revolutionize online gaming and the amount of players standard, isnt interesting enough to keep an eye out for? also how are you not going to count the first month of the a new year? it's a top 35 upcoming ps3 tittles so add all the exclusives you can. show some support FOR PS3 EXCLUSIVE TITTLES if youre going to make a list for it. keep multiplats on their own list
@ 2nd below, huh?
Anyway:
Yakuza 3
White Knight Chronicles: International Edition
The Last Guardian
Modnation Racers
Lost Planet 2
Just Cause 2
Heavy Rain
Gran Turismo 5
God of War 3
Dante's Inferno
OH GOD!!! I can't take this anymore, too many awesome games that I need a second life to play all these. :-D
man a good year for th PS3 indeed1
btw: to anyone who know this show: doesn't that guy from the ar tonelico 3 pic somehat look like a small version of gintama! O_O!!!
Assassin's Creed 3 this year? I really hope not. They need to give the second game some breathing room, and not milk the franchise.
Skeeuk says:
ps3 has best games easily.
********************************************
Opinions vary. There are best games on all the platforms.
People who keep screaming for MAG obviously didn't read the first paragraph of the article. Try reading it. Your question was already answered.
It's probably a good thing that as I am scrolling through this list, I kept asking myself...When is this going to end?
One can only wonder what CGI-Quality will do with all his time once this game releases February 23rd.
LOL
Anyway, I'm really excited for mafia and just cause, as well as basically all of the exclusives.
great list.. but.. why not this mag and star ocean international there? o_o
FFXIII, WKC, Heavy Rain, Resonance of Fate, God of war III, and the list goes on. Man this is probably the best gaming year ive seen since the PS2 days
Wow, excellent job, Torillian!
Good to see you notice Atelier Rorona and AT3, too ;)
FFXIII, Heavy Rain, Dead Rising 2, The Last Guardian, Yakuza 3, White Knight Chronicles,... IMO simply a great line-up!
This is a pretty solid line-up. I'm kind of disappointed with GT5 being delayed again. I'm really excited about God of War III.
Lots of game alright, but only a few I want for my PS3. Most of the multiplats I'll get on my XBox 360. PDS3 exclusives that do interest me are:
White Knight Chronicles
The Last Guardian
God of War 3
Modnation Racers
and FF XIII.
I'm interested in GT5 as well for the online play, but the game has been delayed so long I don't know when I'll get to play it.
unbelievable!! lots of good games to make us all broke for a long, long time lol
I wish someone gave me a thousand dollars so I wouldn't be teased by these games, whilst not being able to buy them
2010 with one month has already been VERY busy : draksiders, boyonetta, army of 2 40th...
I know it's a yearly sports title but MLB 10: The Show needs to be on that list. It's the best baseball and sports series in my opinion.
Awesome list! So many wonderful upcoming Jrpgs for the PS3. Makes me happy. this being only the beginning (35) makes it even better.
And Resistance 3, Infamous 2 and Killzone 3 are rumored to be announced, who knows maybe one of those might see a holiday release. I better start cutting back on the beer to save up some money.
The clips that I've seen for White Knight Chronicles look great. I'll definitely be picking it up.
It says FFvs13 isn't there because it won't it out this year. While is out this month
What an awesome year.
MAG and FFvs13 are explained why they aren't there, and Modnation is in that list....
Versus XIII won't be out in 2010, unfortunately. Well, at least outside of Japan.
Right in the top I told you that we're only doing 35 titles. Batman: AA2 was announced after I wrote this up, Modnation Racers is in there. MAG is January and the rest I just didn't think were likely to release in 2010 or not interesting to write about.
Unfortunatelly the list is incomplet . Where is M.A.G. , Final Fantasy XIV, Star Ocean : The Last hope International, The Agency, Modnation Racers, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, DC Universe, Prince of Persia : The Forgotten Sands, Batman Arkham Asylum 2? This list is lacky for some (future) fans of these games.
The PS3 lineup is incredible!..and finally there's a lot of JRPG.
This will be the year of PS3: "new" price, good lineup and wand/gem.
@Cactus
Really? I looked them up to be sure and all I can find from them is stuff like Crazy Taxi and Virtua Tennis. Wiki must have failed me, easily fixed though.
Hitmaker has only made RPG's throughout their existence. Dragoneer's Aria, Witch's Tale, etc.
My beautiful black box is getting a workout this year. Not like it didn't the last two years...but still!
11 out of 35 are exclusive games. Thats is huge number. List lack SOIV, FFXIV, The Agency, Agent.
I'm pretty sure that the AC game coming out this year is not Assassin's Creed III, but is called Assassin's Creed Episodes.
I'm in this news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :-D
OT: Two Words: Coming Soon!
Another two words: HE............nevermind :-D
