Fallout 3 has been the gift that keeps on giving - as long as you have it on Xbox 360 or PC, anyway. That will all change this summer as Bethesda has announced that the three previous DLC installments (Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, and Broken Steel) will be released on the Playstation 3 through the Playstation Network, starting in late June with each subsequent DLC releasing 4-6 weeks apart.

In addition, Bethesda announced plans to release two additional pieces of DLC, eventually for all three systems. Point Lookout takes place in a new swampland area, while Mothership Zeta involves an alien abduction. Both will cost the same 800 points/$9.99 as the other DLC, with Point Lookout releasing in late June on 360 and PC (about the same time as Operation: Anchorage on PS3), and Mothership Zeta due to release in late July on 360 and PC (about the same time as The Pitt on PS3). The PS3 versions of the new DLC will not be released until 4-6 weeks after Broken Steel is available for the system, so if you're keeping track, the PS3 will once again see at least a three month delay in seeing the new content.

Bethesda also revealed a few new retail packages, with Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 and #2, with the first containing Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt and releasing on May 26th, and the second containing Broken Steel and Point Lookout and releasing in August. These disc bundles will only be available for 360 and PC - PS3 owners will have to wait for their downloads to become available.

The final announcement was a Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition releasing in October of this year, containing the original game and all five pieces of DLC - and it will be available on 360, PC, and even PS3. The price? Just $59.99 on 360 and PS3, and $49.99 on PC.

We'll have hands-on with Point Lookout at E3, so stay tuned for that.

MonkeyManZac (on 17 June 2009)

Well maybe if Sony wasn't so cheap they could of payed like microsoft and got it at the same time that's why xbox 360 is better than ps3

batista1220 (on 23 May 2009)

its about time

finally bethesda gets their head out of the clouds

fivegirl (on 22 May 2009)

Maybe someone else can cause a lot of attention, but I do not think this is a useful way to say this article makes sense, T恤衫we need to support, perhaps like today's weather, great, I love games, like talk and laugh,温湿度记录仪 love see all comments, of course, like to make friends.

nen-suer (on 21 May 2009)

@XanderZane

I said Sony didn't pay to get it like MS did. I knows we will have to pay......how didn't u understand that (u bring shame to the hyuga)

so its good for SONY

XanderZane (on 21 May 2009)

Squall_Leonhart says:
Interesting that this is on the PS3 since it was meant to only be on the 360!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was timed exclusive. M$ paid for it to be on the XBox 360 first and for a period of time. This makes it more enticing for people to buy the XBox 360 version. Which works pretty good. Considering the 360 version has been reviewed to be superior, gamers who bought Fallout 3 for the XBox 360, bought the right version.

******************************************************

Yojimbo says:
First Fallout 3 then GTA IV.

-----------------------------------------------------------
GTA IV DLC is still exclusive to XBox 360. Microsoft paid $50 million for it, so unless Sony folks over $50 million to have it created on the PS3, I don't think you'll see "Lost of the Damn" or any other GTA IV DLC on the PS3. Rockstar created the expansion from scratch. So porting it over to the PS3 would be a real pain in the @#%.

*******************************************************
nen-suer says:
Cool, Sony gets stuff for free

--------------------------------------------------------------------
You wish. PS3 gamers will still have to pay for each expansion, just like Xbox 360 gamers had to. I'm actually going to wait and get the Fallout 3: GotY edition in October and sell the other one I have on EBay. PS3 owners would be smart to just do that instead.

elzumo (on 20 May 2009)

@AE86

Yeah, it's still possible that Microsoft paid for timed exclusivity, but at a massive 5 months between Operation: Anchorage releasing on 360 to PS3, they either didn't actually pay or it wasn't very much...lol.

Jordahn (on 20 May 2009)

@ nen-suer

Exactly. With so many great games now, a great backlog, and a potentially great future, it's unrealistic to play every single game you want as soon as it comes out. Maybe FKNetwork only has a very limited selection to choose from so it makes it easier to always jump on those few bandwagons as soon as those few games come out. But then again, I'm sure Bethesda carefully considered the common aging factor of titles over time and felt that PS3 DLC was not a wise business move. Wait a minute...?

;)

CATCHORA (on 20 May 2009)

DAMN IT !! I bought the euro ver and i can only download from the american store!!
thanks alot Bethesda.

nen-suer (on 20 May 2009)

^Its a game not milk it wont go bad :-)

FKNetwork (on 20 May 2009)

^Yup, I would say it is old, people don't care about old games with DLC when it's already been out for 6 months on another console lol.

Jordahn (on 20 May 2009)

"This game will be very old by the time PS3 owners get the DLC lol"

Just one year later... Is it really that big of a deal? I'm still playing Atari 2600, NES, 80's arcade, and PSOne games. And one year later is something to laugh at? How about those who haven't bought the game, yet? Or those who are just starting to play the game to where by the time they have beatened it with a character or two, they are ready for a few DLC when it comes out? Or how about those who are trying to save a few bucks by waiting for the GOTY edition? Or how many of us as GAMERS "dust" off those "old" games to play again, but instead of playing a game again they would be buying DLC to play more of that same game? Oh, well. Some console owners just aren't gamers because they obviously don't think as such.

FKNetwork (on 20 May 2009)

This game will be very old by the time PS3 owners get the DLC lol

placidcasual (on 20 May 2009)

Great news for PS3 owners as it didn't give you an option to continue exploring after the final mission.

TheSteve (on 20 May 2009)

It's a riot how one side calls the other biased or stupid, then follows up with some retarded nonsense of their own.

*shakes head*

Sardauk (on 20 May 2009)

Same for me... October is still far away...

nen-suer (on 20 May 2009)

@KylieDog

Smart man, i will wait for it too :-)

KylieDog (on 20 May 2009)

So 5 DLCS at $10 (likely £8 GBP) sums up to $50 or £40.

That is to buy them as DLC, game cost is extra. The GOTY edition will be that price most likely and includes the main game, plus is likely to drop in price unlike DLC.

If people don't mind waiting the GOTY edition will be a bargain.

bkslopper (on 20 May 2009)

And yet again, the PS3 gets another so-called 360 exclusive. I'm a PC/360 owner, and this does not surprise me at all. Bethesda is a company and they have to run a business. It is in their best interest to support PS3. In fact, it is in most dev's and pub's best interest to put games on PS3/360/PC. Not doing so would limit profits and give MS or Sony monopoly rights. No one wants to see a return to the 80's where Nintendo dictated everything. Yes, I'm drunk, don't judge me, lol.

Kantor (on 20 May 2009)

And with that...

Fallout 3 becomes a confirmed buy.

See, Bethesda, it's not that hard to get us to like you ;-)

CaptainDJ (on 20 May 2009)

All I know is, the PC version of most games are better, and for Fallout 3 the PC version destroys the consoles.

nen-suer (on 20 May 2009)

@LordMatrix

What "C_Hollomon" said :-)

Man some xbots are edgy because of this announcement

Ultibankai (on 20 May 2009)

^^ Exactly what I was going to say. Microsoft, even said this as part of their E3 last year, if it was only Bethesda, Microsoft would not have put forth the effort to inform people about the DLC being exclusive. Microsoft paid them, that's why it was such a big deal.

AE86 (on 20 May 2009)

@elzumo

Right, because they were going to say "MICROSOFT PAID US!!!"?

Seraphic_Sixaxis (on 20 May 2009)

And this is checkmate.

BaconDutty (on 19 May 2009)

OMGosh no freakin way dude, I cannot wait. MUST HAVE NOW!

elzumo (on 19 May 2009)

Todd Howard said this in an IGN interview today: "Based on our Oblivion experience, it was clear that Xbox users were much more comfortable buying content, by a wide margin. It's a lot of work to get them ready for a particular platform and now that they've been so popular, we want to get them on the PS3. And there's obviously been a lot of frustration on the part of PS3 owners, who don't feel they are getting the total Fallout 3 experience, and we don't want that to happen. We want everyone to have everything, but we still need to set priorities so we can use our development time wisely."

So there you have it. 360 got the content first because the big upfront money was there.

HanzoTheRazor (on 19 May 2009)

A great day for all gamers, especially PS3 gamers!

I am very glad I held off on the 360 versions now.

sirvice (on 19 May 2009)

FINALLY!!!! the lost son comes home!!! what a joy.

im still pissed i cant buy dlc from psn without a credit card ( as european)

Ultibankai (on 19 May 2009)

I swear the idiocy on this site can get ridiculous sometimes, where is the logic. No one can deny that Microsoft paid to get the timed-exclusive rights to Fallout 3; it is probably only timed-exclusive, because Bethesda saw an opportunity to make far more money by releasing on the PS3 at a later date, than Microsoft was willing to pay for Full-Exclusivity. It's that simple, Sony and it's PS3 are getting this DLC free of charge, because Bethesda wants it that way. Fallout sold incredible on PS3, I doubt they would give up the chance to milk more money out of those that purchased the game on the console. Don't let "Fanboyism" cloud your judgment or your logic.

starbruin (on 19 May 2009)

Know I know for sure that I'll be waiting for the GotY edition too ;D

piccoro (on 19 May 2009)

Wow, Viva Game of the Year Edition!

Lenord69 (on 19 May 2009)

I'll be buying the dlc for the ps3 verson.

C_Hollomon (on 19 May 2009)

@LordMatrix
I think what he mean is Sony didn't pay to get it like MS did. He knows you will have to pay for it.

LordMatrix (on 19 May 2009)

Leave it to nen-suer to make up BS. No where does it say PS3 will get it for free. they will likely be 10 dollars each as they were on 360 and PC. Your Sony fanboyishness shows in every post you make I see.

willenium5 (on 19 May 2009)

wow 5 dlcs at 10 bux each is 50 bux plus 60 bux for the game i feel cheated unless i had waited for the goty edition

TheTruthProphet (on 19 May 2009)

sony didn't get it for free. They probably paid for it because there was such an uproar about not having dlc on the ps3.

just likee sony paid warner bros 500 million to go blu-ray exclusive......these deals do not just happen without financial incentive

nen-suer (on 19 May 2009)

@Zizzla_Rachet

No i said SONY got it for free.

Are u that mad that they did? Plz Grow UP

ninjascroll (on 19 May 2009)

Well in a way we are getting "Exclusive Content" when people claim they are Exclusive that means alot of different things to alot of people.
A timed exclusive for a couple months or a year(ninja gaiden/bioshock) vs a 100% pure exclusive like a Gears2 or MassEffect2.
They need to change the way to label stuff like "Exclusive for 360" but in fine print it will say a timelimit or something like never on another system. But then they might sell less copies no one wants that.

Zizzla_Rachet (on 19 May 2009)

@Nun-suer

What's Free about them?......
And If MS paid for timed Exclusivity..Well That's Exactly what 360 Owners got...Fact is that your "For Free DLC" is something Xbox Gamers Have had and played already.....You act PS3 is getting Exclusive Content....

niksta2 (on 19 May 2009)

one thing to say..............HELLS YEAH BETHESDA!!!!!!

lol, seriously, bethesda is now my favroite dev of all time, I KNEW they weren't total a**holes

Lostplanet22 (on 19 May 2009)

People claimed the PS3 version is superior?

madskillz (on 19 May 2009)

Did anyone notice this?

Finally, new Fallout 3 products will be available at retail this year.

Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #1 includes The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC on May 26.

The Fallout 3 Game Add-on Pack #2 includes Broken Steel and Point Lookout on a disc and will be available for Xbox 360 and PC in August.

Retail versions of the game add-on packs for PS3 are not possible and the DLC will only be available for download online via PlayStation Network.

Why can't you get a retail disc of the DLCs if you own a PS3? To me, that's the bigger story, especially after folks have claimed the PS3 version is the superior version.

Lostplanet22 (on 19 May 2009)

MS: Bethesda can you please give the DLC only for the Xbox 360 version please?
Bethesda: We will miss a lot of income but because we love you we do it for you!

Kowenicki you really think that happened?

TyePhoid_PAL (on 19 May 2009)

Is fallout on station really worse than 360 version? Or have yhey patched the problems? I'm thinking of trying it. Nice news on the DLCt too, hopefully GTA4 DLC will be next.

nen-suer (on 19 May 2009)

@seece

Yeah, but for FREE :-)

chris1_16 (on 19 May 2009)

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seece (on 19 May 2009)

Avarice28 - Please don't refer to every Xbox fan on this site as a troll its pathetic.

And no this is not a huge win for Sony ... Sony is getting the same DLC as the Microsoft ... only months later.

Reasonable (on 19 May 2009)

@Cueil

The best version is PC then, isn't it? Everything from console plus better graphics and a massive mod community with vastly extended gameplay possibilities, no?

OT - I have to say this is why I believe 'timed' exclusives, etc. simply suck from the consumer point of view.

The abrupt switch from 'its exclusive' to 'well it was' is just silly IMHO.

Full and permanent exclusive or not exclusive at all IMO.

Cueil (on 19 May 2009)

am I hearing people complain that they HAD to buy the better version of Fallout 3 to get the DLC and are mad that they could have gotten the PS3 version that is graphicly substandard to the 360 version... it doesn't make sense... isn't that why you have both consoles? To get the best version right?

TowlieFTW (on 19 May 2009)

Guess ill wait for the GOTY edition for PS3

Avarice28 (on 19 May 2009)

wow I never seen so may xbot trolls trying to down play this obvious blunder for Microsoft and huge win for Sony! Good going Sony this year just keeps better and better. Oh! and you must be a brain dead xbot if you do not think that Microsoft did not pay cold hard cash for limited exclusivity for this DLC. Bethesda obviously felt they can make more money then the cash they got from Microsoft plain and simple.

NanakiXI (on 19 May 2009)

I can't believe they didn't wait till E3 to announce right after they make mention of the new Fallout Vegas or whatever.

NanakiXI (on 19 May 2009)

Well I said that I wasn't too concerned about it and if it came it came and if it didn't I won't be disappointed. Well now I'm pretty stoked about this know. I'll just get my friend and me to each pay half and we'll just share. Works out cheaper that way :D

antfromtashkent (on 19 May 2009)

WOOT! GotY eddition here i come!!!

Zizzla_Rachet (on 19 May 2009)

LOL..At people that assume that MS paid to make DLC exclusive and that Sony did not pay to bring to their console....

"...We aren’t going to get into the details of the hows and whys," said Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines in an e-mail. "[DLC] will be exclusive for PC and 360. [We're] not going to give any other qualifiers or clarifications as it relates to other platforms."

Had MS paid for this stuff...It would be perma exclusive....Grow up!

Demoki (on 19 May 2009)

Fallout 3 has gotten pretty expensive...

chapset (on 19 May 2009)

wow I was about to sell my ps3 version to get the x360 one but now joy is everywhere in my earth

sabby_e17 (on 19 May 2009)

I am so HAPPY. Fallout 3 is easily the second best game I've played this gen and i'm just overjoyed to hear that all the DLC packs are coming to PS3. Everyone get this game!

Necromunda (on 19 May 2009)

HALLELUJAH !
Anyone here who has read my posts regarding Fallout 3 will know how HAPPY I am the DLC is coming to the PS3 :D
IM SO HAPPEH !

CaptainDJ (on 19 May 2009)

Sweet more content for a game I don't even play anymore! :D

nen-suer (on 19 May 2009)

@kowenicki

Are u saying that M$ just asked nicely?!!

Man u are so naive :-)

averyblund (on 19 May 2009)

I don't own a PS3 and this still annoys me. A lot of people bought the PC or 360 versions based on the thought that the PS3 wouldn't get DLC.

Goddbless (on 19 May 2009)

@euphoria

I agree, this stuff is getting ridiculous with the flip-flopping of whether something is really exclusive or not.

KylieDog (on 19 May 2009)

Urgh, now stuck with the decision of buy the DLC for my FO3 copy or wait for the GOTY Edition and get it on disc.

I prefer stuff on disc, it means in 10 years when the DLC is likely to not be downloadable anywhere I can still play it.

Hawk (on 19 May 2009)

Nice. Two more DLC. This is very good news indeed.

McClaren (on 19 May 2009)

Knew this would happen eventually. I was waiting to hear the game of the year edition to come out on PS3.

hayeya_k (on 19 May 2009)

it seems that this gen the most famous formula is:

game is only for X platform = releasing on Y platform later

makingmusic476 (on 19 May 2009)

Third party exclusives for the HD consoles almost never stay exclusive. People need to learn this. MS may throw some money around, but the best they can hope for is timed exclusivity.

Yojimbo (on 19 May 2009)

kowenicki : MS probably paid to get the DLC exclusive for some time so more people would buy it for 360 and maybe move some consoles. Why else would Bethesda deny the DLC for a long time and then release it later, they have lost potential buyers by not releasing dlc the same time.

Skeeuk (on 19 May 2009)

@kowen i think microsoft made a deal on exclusivity on the addon packs. so obviously there was financial incentives.

mabey a cash deal or discounted publishing on the 360 retial game.

i dont have fallout anymore i traded it in, but i might get the goty edition

geddesmond2 (on 19 May 2009)

will this be released on the european playstation store? sorry for triple post, i don't know what happened there

geddesmond2 (on 19 May 2009)

You don't know how happy this news made me but I've only 1 worry left now.

geddesmond2 (on 19 May 2009)

You don't know how happy this news made me but I've only 1 worry left now.

kowenicki (on 19 May 2009)

@nen suer... meaning?

you think MS paid for this DLC and then sony got it for free? please... grow up. both got it for free.

nen-suer (on 19 May 2009)

Cool, Sony gets stuff for free :-)

Domo-Kun (on 19 May 2009)

How annoying.

I DID buy the 360 version just for DLC.

Yojimbo (on 19 May 2009)

First Fallout 3 then GTA IV.

omi2041c (on 19 May 2009)

ADM!!!! OMG!!! Yes... F***ing yes!!!! Ok I'm good now.

Staude (on 19 May 2009)

lol I might actually concider getting it now... But the constant delay makes me say "it's a very strong maybe.

Squall_Leonhart (on 19 May 2009)

Interesting that this is on the PS3 since it was meant to only be on the 360!

Euphoria14 (on 19 May 2009)

These companies need to start telling the truth. This gen is getting ridiculous. One day we are told that it isn't coming to PS3 so people go out and buy the game for 360 only to later find out they were lied to from the start and that it is in fact only "timed exclusive".

I know some may think it isn't a big deal but I almost bought the 360 version after putting nearly 40 hours into the PS3 version. If I did, trust me, news like this would have seriously pissed me off.

MasterVG71782 (on 19 May 2009)

That is definitely good news to hear!

jovanisaldivar (on 19 May 2009)

i thought it was only for 360
